Your Wiltshire Councillor

Durrington Town Council exceeded all expectations and delivered ‘their best show ever’. On Sunday the 19th July over 100 vehicles of all shapes and sizes gathered at the Recreation Ground for a fabulous display of classic cars, commercial and agricultural vehicles and appliances and motorcycles.

To top this there was entertainment for all ages including a dog show, tug of war, Loud and Proud singers and the Durrington Walls Wind Band combining perfectly with the children’s section to keep everyone fully entertained from 11.00am to 5.00pm.

Local organisations also played an important role and were well represented. The WI kindly provided tea and cakes and the craft displays were very successful.

Thanks go to the Police and Air Training Corps for their help. The Town Council and all the village helpers must also be congratulated on running such an excellent event.

Special thanks should go to John Todd who brilliantly organised the whole day. As the event finished the rain poured down and it was wonderful to see such team spirit as, despite getting soaked, the helpers stood fast and cleared away the exhibition tents. Roll on next year so that we can do it all again!
