Durrington
Post-Point is a 1st for Wiltshire
People gave the thumbs up in delight as last Wednesday saw
the return of postal services to Durrington since the loss
of their local Post Office some years ago. Durrington’s
innovative Town Council took advantage of funding from ‘Plain
Action’ and support from Community First to open the
1st Post-Point in Wiltshire. Local Wiltshire Councillor Graham
Wright said “I am delighted to be part of such a positive
scheme; the return of these services is a real boost for local
people and, whilst it is not a Post Office, it can deliver
a variety of essential services for Durrington”
The Village Hall now boasts a place that local people can;
· Weigh and post parcels and letters
· Post via Recorded and Special Delivery
· Buy stamps
· Use on-line Internet Services
· Receive a friendly service with a smile.
To start with these services will be supported by volunteers
and available in the Clerks office from 10:00 to 12:00 on
Tuesday and Fridays. It is proposed for the opening hours
to be extended to 5 days a week in the near future. The Cheerful
Cuppa, a local community organisation kindly supplied refreshments
for the grand opening.
