Success for Durrington and Larkhill as Crime reaches a year end low in December 2008

During 2008, the Crime Figures have showed a pattern of overall reduction towards the year end low. Local community and policing priorities for the next 3 months were agreed at a meeting attended by, from left to right; District and Town Councillor Graham Wright, Durrington Crime Prevention Town Cllr, John Todd, PC Lucy Smith, PCSO Geoffrey Paffett and Youth Development Co-ordinator Kevin McCaffrey.

The recent crime reduction in Durrington and Larkhill is a credit to the Crime Prevention Clinic that is held in Durrington Village hall on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Durrington Town Council in association with the Police, Salisbury District Council and local youth organisations have reduced the number of offences being committed during December to just 8 and the Police have already made 6 arrests. John Todd said “without the co-operation of the public, the neighbourhood policing team and the work of the Town Councillors we would not be in such a positive position. The work of other agencies including Development for Young People have all contributed to the overall reduction”
