On Sat the 27th Sept Durrington villagers took to the streets in support of the ‘Keep Britain Tidy Campaign’. This campaign is being run nationally in partnership with the Womens Institute and Defra. Mrs E Ridley of Durrington organised a task force of well over 30 people who took time out to litter pick. The volunteers split into 4 groups and over a 2 hour period covered the whole village. The weather was glorious and all the volunteers, who are proud of their village, enjoyed their time spent tiding up litter and small rubbish items.
On the same
day the Town Council had organised unpaid workers to paint two walled areas
of the village that had been vandalised with graffiti. A villager remarked “it
is so good to see that people still care about our village, well done to the
team led by Mrs Ridley and to the Town Council for removing such horrible graffiti”
